What the well-dressed matron will be wearing in Bath tomorrow…

We had a lovely journey from London to Bath, although our coach driver encountered more than the usual traffic, putting us here about two hours late. That’s okay — we’re in one piece, and we’ve all been fed and are checked into our darling guest house! I promise to post pictures of the rest of our time in London soon. Unfortunately, I seem to have left my jump drive back in our London hotel, so Lindsay is having to put everything onto another drive for me! 😛

Tomorrow is the Grand Costumed Promenade to kick off the Jane Austen Festival. We are praying for the rain to hold off, as it was overcast all day today. I’ll be sitting in my booth in Queen’s Square while everyone else does the mile-long parade. 😉 On tap for the rest of the day is the Fashion Museum of Bath (which is housed in the Assembly Rooms). Our ladies also have vouchers for “Tea with Mr. Darcy” at the Jane Austen Centre and a tour of the Centre’s museum. Lots of fun!!!

That sounds like soooo much fun! I wish I was there! I long to go to a Jane Austen/Regency Ball! When does the festival usually occur, & how do you get tickets? Thank you for any information.

Hello, Tiffany! The festival runs yearly for nine days and always at this same time in September. It closes with a grand Regency ball on the final Saturday night. We won’t be staying that long, obviously, so we’ll miss it, though there are dance workshops this weekend and in the middle of next week. This is so interesting to me, as I sew costumes for the Civil War, but am very interested in the earlier (Jane Austen type) period as well…Keep up the great work! I love to read your new posts!!
