I decided to kick off the tour in Salzburg, because it is a comfortable, walking-friendly city that moves at a slower pace than Vienna. It would give us all a chance to recover from the worst of the jet lag and see some things without feeling rushed.

A brand new tour for 2019!
If you’re on my Early Bird list or on Cathy Hay’s eList, then you’ve already gotten the news and may have already booked a slot (whee!), but if you’re just tuning in, I’ve got a brand spanking new tour lined up for September 2019, and I am super excited about it!
We’ll be taking a breather this year and next…
I promise to share our wonderful week together as soon as I’ve uploaded photos and welcomed a new little one into the world. We did have a marvelous group (I truly believe we have the best tour group members!), and we thoroughly enjoyed our time exploring Cheshire, Yorkshire, Nottingham, Haworth, Warwick, and Bath.
New Stops on the 2016 Tour!
Due to one of our museum collections going “offline” for a season of restoration and another temporary closure, we have swapped this year’s itinerary around a little bit and added three new destinations! First, we will travel to Macclesfield in Cheshire to see the Silk Museum, which includes a working mill from the Victorian Era.Continue reading “New Stops on the 2016 Tour!”
2016 Tour — filled from priority list..!
We opened the new tour for bookings to our priority list in November and quickly filled all 18 slots. However, if you are interested in jumping on board in case of drop-outs, please feel free to contact me.
Whatever happened in 2014?
After a year of careful planning and hard work, we did, indeed, put together a marvelous tour itinerary, revisiting some favorite spots from the 2012 tour and adding a new costumed event. But, due to a crazy change in immigration law where we live in Africa, my travel visa lapsed and could not be renewed until after the tour! Thankfully, my well-traveled and very gracious husband stepped in and lead my tour for me, and I chimed in on Skype now and again to chat with the group and see how things were going. It was a huge disappointment to miss my own trip, but I’m so glad it went off without a hitch and was a roaring success. Here are some photo highlights thanks to Cathy Hay of Your Wardrobe Unlock’d, who was a special speaker on this trip and took lots of pictures!
Off to England!
I’m headed to the UK to lead this year’s Historical Fashion Tour. My group will be in Bath for the opening of the Jane Austen Festival, then in Winchester and London. You can follow us over on my Facebook page, where I’ll be posting pictures and insights from the trip.
Catching up…?
Yes, it has now been over four months since I promised to finish blogging my last trip, but I plead Kenyan Internet! It has been turtle-slow since October, which has made it difficult to do very much at all, especially with photos. But I’m busily organizing pictures this month and hope to complete the final few days of our trip soon.
Charming Lacock Village
On our way to our hotel near Bath, we stopped for several hours to enjoy a leisurely afternoon in Lacock Village. It was a gorgeous, sunny day with a light breeze–perfect for tea and strolling around!
We’re here!
It was quite an adventure getting from Kenya to Manchester, including the last-minute surprise of a child’s expired passport, a long walk through Dubai Airport, and a running dash for the train to Manchester, but we did manage to get here at last. We met up as a group Sunday night for our first get-together and a marvelous evening of Show and Tell, starring Suzi’s gorgeous collection of historical bodices and corsets and some added attractions brought in by special guest Cathy Hay of YourWardrobeUnlockd.com.
